Research

Market research

Research that shows where to compete, and how to win there.

01The problem

Big decisions, made on hunches.

  • 1.1

    Big bets, thin evidence.

Launches and expansions are planned on a few conversations and a borrowed report.

  • 1.2

Markets that look alike from a distance.

India is many markets. What works in Mumbai may not work in Kolkata, Siliguri or Durgapur.

  • 1.3

    Customers you haven’t asked.

The people who’d buy are rarely asked what they need, or what they’d pay.

  • 1.4

    Competitors you’ve underestimated.

Local players, informal alternatives and doing nothing all compete for the same customer.

02What we do

Evidence you can act on.

Every study starts from the decision it has to support.

Market sizing
How big the opportunity is, built bottom-up and checked top-down.
Competitor analysis
Who you’re up against, how they price, and where they’re weak.
Customer research
Interviews and surveys that show what people need and what they’ll pay.
Go-to-market studies
Segments, channels, pricing and partners for a launch.
Entering India and Eastern India
For companies abroad looking at India, with West Bengal and the east as a focus.
Taking Bengal businesses abroad
For local companies ready to sell to customers in other countries.

03How it runs

    Analyse

Models, patterns and the story the evidence tells.

  4. 04Weeks 6–7

    Recommend

A written report with a clear recommendation.

  5. 05Week 8

    Present

A workshop with your team to test it and plan next steps.

05Questions

What people ask us.

Can you research markets outside India?

Yes. We work across global markets, with a particular focus on India and the east.

Do you run interviews and surveys in Bengali?

Yes, in Bengali or English, whichever suits the people we’re asking.

How is this different from buying a market report?

A bought report answers someone else’s questions. Ours starts from your decision and ends with a recommendation for it.

Do we get the raw data?

Yes. You get the models and the interview notes, anonymised where we’ve agreed to.

Know the market before you move.

Tell us the decision you’re facing, and we’ll propose a study to support it.
